2.4 VCOM Remote Access Remote (off-campus) access to information technology resources at VCOM are provided via a virtual private network (VPN) connection. The VPN provides a secure mechanism for VCOM faculty and staff to access VCOM information technology resources remotely.

Policy Guidelines

1. Faculty and staff wishing to utilize the VPN service must first contact the campus specific IT department so that necessary software and account configurations can be made. 2. Faculty and staff utilizing the VPN utility must not disclose their VPN account credentials with others, including other faculty and staff. 3. When utilizing the VPN, faculty and staff must adhere to the VCOM Acceptable Use Policy. 4. Faculty and staff should refer to the VCOM Information Technology’s Computer Use Policy, Sections 2.1 and 2.2 for additional information regarding the Information Technology staff’s responsibility in providing support for personally owned IT equipment (i.e. PC, Tablet, laptop). 5. VPN access will be terminated for any VCOM faculty or staff member who has violated the account credentials Guideline 2 in this policy. 3. DURATION OF POLICY The Computer Support Policy established by the Information Technology Department is effective as of the date above and shall remain effective until amended or terminated by the President and the Dean.
