VCOM-Auburn Community Outreach

Healthcare & Medical Outreach J.W. Darden Foundation Gala (March 6) – Supported the Darden Wellness Center, which provides free health screenings and medical resources to underserved communities. Disaster Day (Sept. 25) – Participated in Auburn University’s crisis simulation, preparing students for emergency response in an active shooter scenario. Preventive Medicine Simulations (Oct.) – Collaborated with Auburn University’s nursing, pharmacy, and social work programs for interprofessional training, including a poverty simulation hosted at VCOM-Auburn.

Education & Youth Engagement AU Brain Camp (July 16) – Hosted high school students for hands-on neuroscience learning at VCOM-Auburn’s Anatomy Lab and Simulation Center. Anato-Bee Regional Competition (April 6-7) – Organized a science competition for students interested in biomedical sciences. Destination STEM Event (Oct. 2) – Welcomed more than 900 middle schoolers for an interactive STEM experience, engaging students from rural and underserved schools. Healthy Heart Heroes Program (Year Round) – Taught children at the Auburn Boys and Girls Club about heart health, pulse monitoring, and healthy lifestyle choices. Public Health & Advocacy Osteopathic Medicine Month Proclamation (Dec. 5) – Joined Governor Kay Ivey to recognize osteopathic medicine’s impact on Alabama’s rural communities.

Disaster Relief & Community Service

Hurricane Helene Relief Drive (Oct. 24) – Collected warm clothing and essentials for those affected by the hurricane in Western North Carolina. East Alabama Food Bank Volunteer Work (Year-Round) – Assisted with sorting and distributing food for underserved populations.
