PURPOSE The purpose of VCOM’s Faculty Adequacy Policy is to detail how faculty adequacy is calculated so to assure sufficient faculty to carry out VCOM’s Mission.

FACULTY ADEQUACY VCOM needs sufficient faculty to not only teach osteopathic medical students and Post-Baccalaureate program students, but also to provide:

 

Academic advising;

Mentoring student groups;

 Support outreach programs (Appalachian and International);  Mentoring student research projects;  Service for the college;  Clinical responsibilities; and  Research.

FACULTY ADEQUACY MODEL The faculty adequacy model is built upon the teaching, research, and service needs of the College. All full-time faculty have responsibilities that fall within three of the five categories: teaching, research,
