VCOM College Catalog and Student Handbook
Students must follow and complete a prescribed remediation plan as designed in order to be released to sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE, which includes providing CIFSS with weekly updates regarding study plan progress and question bank performance. VCOM will evaluate students’ completion of the prescribed remediation plan when determining students’ readiness to sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE and approving the students’ testing date. Students who fail to participate in the prescribed remediation plan (which includes providing CIFSS with updates regarding study plan progress and question bank performance) or who have not participated in the required support meeting, will receive an “F” (Fail) grade for the course will be placed on a Temporary Administrative Withdrawal by the Campus Dean. These students will not be released to sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE until the “F” grade is resolved, as they will not have successfully completed the OMS 3 year. o Students must complete the remediation plan and sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE prior to October 1st of their OMS 4 year. Those students who complete the remediation plan and sit for COMLEX Level 2 CE prior to October 1 st of their OMS 4 year will receive a “P” (Pass) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course II. Those students who have not completed the plan and/or who have not sat for COMLEX Level 2 CE by prior to October 1st of their OMS 4 year will receive an “INC” (Incomplete) grade for the course and will be placed on a Temporary Administrative Withdrawal. These students will not be eligible for re-enrollment or further financial aid until they pass COMLEX Level 2 CE. Temporary withdrawal may not exceed a 180-day limit. Upon receiving a passing score within the 180-day limit, the student will be re enrolled to the OMS 4-year. Those students who do not pass COMLEX Level 2 CE within the 180-day limit will be dismissed by the Campus Dean. • Students who score less than 460 on COMSAE Phase 2 on the first attempt will receive an “IP” (In Progress) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course II. Students who score less than 460 on the second attempt will receive an “F” (Fail) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course II. To resolve the “IP” or “F” grade and be released to sit COMLEX Level 2 CE, the student is required to do the following: o Meet with CIFSS and the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs for the failure of the first attempt (will meet with the Associate Dean for OMS 4 and GME for a second attempt failure) to design a prescribed remediation plan. The plan includes a tentative date the student is to sit for a second attempt of COMSAE Phase 2 and COMLEX Level 2 CE. Students who score less than 460 on the first or second attempt have two options for remediation: Option 1: Attend a VCOM approved external immersion program.
External immersion programs are generally held for a period of 4 – 6 weeks. Students typically need an additional 4 weeks of independent study following the immersion program before they feel ready to sit for the exam. Students who choose to attend a VCOM approved external immersion program are enrolled in VCOM’s National Board Preparation course. Students may not be enrolled in the course for longer than 60 days.
