completion of the prescribed remediation plan when determining students’ readiness to sit for COMLEX Level 1 and approving the students’ testing date. o Students who fail to participate in the prescribed remediation plan (which includes providing CIFSS with updates regarding study plan progress and question bank performance) or who have not participated in the required support meeting, will receive an “F” (Fail) grade for the course and be placed on a Temporary Administrative Withdrawal by the Campus Dean or will be referred by the Campus Dean to the Promotion Board for consideration for dismissal. These students will not be released to sit for COMLEX Level 1 until the “F” grade is resolved, as they will not have successfully completed the OMS 2 year.
12.2 COMSAE Phase 2: A Comprehensive Review Exam To ensure that students achieve the medical knowledge competencies needed to begin the OMS 4 year and succeed on COMLEX Level 2 CE, VCOM requires completion of a Comprehensive Review Course at the end of the OMS 3 year. This course culminates in the COMSAE Phase 2 exam, which serves as one of the final assessments at the end of the OMS 3 year. To be eligible to be promoted to the OMS 4 year, the student must sit for COMSAE Phase 2. A passing score on COMLEX Level 1 is a prerequisite for taking COMSAE Phase 2. VCOM covers the cost of the first COMSAE Phase 2 exam that students take as the final exam of the Comprehensive Review Course. The college also pays for the second COMSAE Phase 2 exam if required for remediation. Students who have not passed COMSAE Phase 2 (by score or by remediation) and sat for COMLEX Level 2 CE prior to October 1 st of their OMS 4 year, will be temporarily withdrawn. Students who are following an Altered Degree Plan of Study are required to meet with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and CIFSS to be provided with the approved date of their COMSAE Phase 2 exam and deadline for sitting for COMLEX Level 2 CE (which may be different than October 1). Each year, VCOM will notify students which COMSAE forms they may purchase on their own to take as practice exams to prepare for their COMLEX Level 2 CE exam. Students must only utilize the forms specified, as the other forms are utilized as the official COMSAE and as the remediation exam if needed. NBOME logs the COMSAE exams taken, which allows VCOM to monitor the exams purchased by students to ensure that no COMSAE exams that have been taken are utilized as a remediation exam.
