■ ■ HCMO and SAAO worked together to conduct blood pressure and glucose screenings, as well as OMM, at the annual Roanoke Latino Festival in October 2016. ■ ■ Three members of HCMO attended the annual Southeast Regional LMSA Conference at PCOM in Suwanee, Georgia in February 2016. ■ ■ Dr. Eduardo Lara-Torre, MD, an OB/GYN and VCOM clinical preceptor in Roanoke, Virginia gave a talk about the healthcare disparities affecting Latino patients and what future physicians can do to help. ■ ■ In March 2017, HCMO implemented Medical Spanish Workshops on campus to teach Spanish speaking, writing and reading skills to VCOM students interested in joining HCMO or participating in one of VCOM’s medical mission trips. ■ ■ HCMO members were able to use the Spanish language skills they gained from Medical Spanish Workshops on June 11, 2017 when the group held the second annual Latino Health Fair at the

levels, BMI and provide educational material for about 50 people. SAAO also helped out and provided OMM for the community.
