VCOM Focus Winners Segment 2 Theme: Fostering Altruism

1 st Place Cameron Cook- Class of 2019 Photo Title: "The Path”

Description: We realize that we aren't the first generation to walk the path of altruism. We humbly tread where our mentors have trod. We courageously beckon to others to follow.

2 nd Place Desiree Inman - Class of 2019 Photo Title: "Heart of Uganda”

Description: Uganda is the world’s youngest nation, with the average age of 15. This photo depicts a common site seen in the rural regions of Gulu. This orphaned girl was left with the nearly impossible task of caring for her younger siblings. Her altruistic actions embody the philosophy of the people of Uganda. This photo reflects VCOM’s mission to rural and international outreach. It is my hope that it will remind students of what it means to be selfless and to never forget why we want to serve others.

3 rd Place Cameron Cook - Class of 2019 Photo Title: "Dare to Leave the Shore”

Description: A life devoted to altruism requires one to put others before self. It requires us to get outside of comfort zone. We choose to devote ourselves to a cause beyond ourselves. We choose to leave the safety of the harbor and face the adventure of the open seas.
