2.1.3 The OMS 4 Promotion Process and Recommendation for Graduation The Associate Dean for OMS 4 and GME oversees promotions to the next semester of the OMS 4 year and recommendations for graduation. The Associate Deans for OMS 4 and GME will review all components for the OMS 4 year, which includes the required OMS 4 clinical rotations, comprehensive exams, COMLEX exams, and all other requirements for graduation to determine eligibility for promotion to the next semester and graduation. The Associate Dean for OMS 4 and GME will refer any student who is unable to successfully complete a rotation within the OMS 4 year to the Promotion Board for review, upon receipt of a rotation failure. The Associate Dean for OMS 4 and GME presents students who have passed all requirements for an academic year to the Campus Dean for approval of graduation. The Promotion Board also serves as the faculty appointed body who approves students who are eligible for graduation. The Associate Deans for Clinical Affairs will review all components for the OMS 4 year, which will include the required OMS 4 clinical rotations, comprehensive exams, COMLEX exams, and all other requirements for graduation to determine eligibility for graduation. A list of OMS 4 students who are found eligible for graduation will be presented to the Promotion Board who will then approve and recommend the potential graduates to the VCOM Board of Directors. The recommendations are then sent to the Provost who will present the promotions to the Board of Directors for final approval. 2.2 Assessment of Academic Progress It is the responsibility of the Promotion Board to assess the academic progress of students toward the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. The Promotion Board is held at the end of each block/rotation, after all grades have been determined by the Associate Dean for Pre-Clinical Education, the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, and/or the Associate Dean for OMS 4 and GME. 2.2.1 Reasons to Call a Promotion Board Meeting For OMS1 and OMS 2 Students The Promotion Board meets at the conclusion of each academic block in the OMS 1 and OMS 2 years to review students deemed to be having difficulty making academic progress. If there are no students to be reviewed at the end of a block, the Promotion Board will not meet. The Associate Dean Medical Education will refer to the Promotion Board any student who has: • F Course Grades: o Received an F grade for the overall course o Failed to pass a Promotion Board approved remediation for a course resulting in an F grade o Failed any component of an academic year that is required for promotion to the next academic year

• Repeated F grades of the same or different required components of a course or courses within an academic year, regardless of successful
