must sit for the regularly scheduled second attempt of COMSAE Phase 1.

12.1.2 COMSAE Phase 1: Second Attempt

A. Students who score 460 or greater on COMSAE Phase 1 on the second attempt will receive a “P” (Pass) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course (provided they have met all other course requirements) and will be allowed to sit for COMLEX Level 1 within the VCOM approved testing window. Once students pass COMSAE Phase 1 they are to continue to study until they take COMLEX Level 1 during the approved testing window (usually mid-June through mid-July). B. Students who score 440 – 459 on COMSAE Phase 1 on the second attempt will retain the “IP” (In Progress) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course. To resolve the “IP” grade and be released to sit for COMLEX Level 1, the student must do the following: • Meet with CIFSS to extend and/or modify their current prescribed remediation plan. The plan includes a tentative date the student is to sit for COMLEX Level 1. o The remediation plan includes providing CIFSS with weekly updates regarding study plan progress and question bank performance. Additional requirements may be prescribed in the remediation plan. Students must follow and complete a prescribed remediation plan as designed. VCOM will monitor students’ progress toward completion of the prescribed remediation plan and readiness to sit for COMLEX Level 1, which may alter the tentative testing date established in the remediation plan. o Students who fail to participate in the prescribed remediation plan (which includes providing CIFSS with updates regarding study plan progress and question bank performance) or who have not participated in the required support meeting, will receive an “F” (Fail) grade for the course and be brought before the Promotion Board. These students will not be released to sit for COMLEX Level 1 until the “F” grade is resolved, as they will not have successfully completed the OMS 2 year. • Students must complete the remediation plan and sit for COMLEX Level 1 prior to entering the OMS 3 year. o Those students who complete the remediation plan and sit for COMLEX Level 1 by the first day of the regularly scheduled OMS 3 year will receive a “P” (Pass) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course (provided they have met all other course requirements) and will be promoted to the OMS 3 year.
