P URPOSE The Disciplinary Sanctions Policy details the sanctions given to students who show evidence of unprofessional, unethical, or inappropriate behavior for a medical student and future physician. 2. DISCIPLINARY SANCTIONS VCOM expects all students to adhere to the high standards of behavior expected of physicians during all professional and patient care activities at the school and all of its academic affiliates. All students must uphold the standards of the medical profession. This includes, but is not limited to, being respectful of patients, staff, faculty, peers, and the community; being aware of the ways in which their conduct may affect others; and conducting themselves with honesty and integrity in all interactions. VCOM students are also required to adhere to the highest standards of academic honesty and professional conduct in relation to their coursework. 1.
