VCOM Policy and Procedure

Policy #S001

• rank the campuses in order of attendance preference; or • designate all campuses.

Applicants have the opportunity to be considered at the other VCOM campuses if their preferred campus is full. AACOMAS requires one designation (and fee) for each VCOM campus; however, a student may apply to only one campus and when the student is invited to submit a secondary application, he/she may utilize the secondary application form to designate additional campuses where they wish to be considered. VCOM only requires one secondary application fee when applying to more than one campus. In order to process the application, AACOMAS will require official copies of transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. High school information is documented by the applicant on the AACOMAS application (high school name, city, state, and year of graduation). VCOM’s Admissions staff may request further documentation in the form of the applicant’s high school diploma, which will be verified by VCOM. Applicants must also submit their official MCAT scores from AAMC to AACOMAS. Applicants who have taken course work and/or have earned a degree from a foreign institution must also submit to AACOMAS an evaluation of their transcripts by one of the approved AACOMAS transcript evaluation services. The deadline for VCOM applications generally falls on February 1, but is subject to change annually; therefore, applicants should consult the website. The last day for applicants to submit their Secondary Application and supporting materials is March 15, but should be done much earlier in order to be competitive. VCOM begins reviewing applications as early as July of the year preceding admission. 4.1.1 Official Transcripts Official transcripts sent to AACOMAS are provided to VCOM when an applicant applies. These transcript are accepted by VCOM if all coursework the applicant has taken at that institution is completed as of June 1 of the application year. VCOM will verify that a transcript has been received for every institution listed on the AACOMAS application, that at least one baccalaureate degree has been awarded, and that all other degrees reported on the AACOMAs application are documented. If there is a question about the authenticity of a transcript, an official transcript, sent directly to the VCOM campus from the institution in question, will be required. Any school the applicant is attending (or will attend) after June of the application year will require an official transcript be sent directly from that institution to the appropriate VCOM campus. In this case, the transcript sent to AACOMAS will not be accepted. In the event that VCOM does require a transcript directly from an institution, transcripts must be sent directly from the Registrar’s Office of the school(s) attended directly to the VCOM Registrar’s Office. Unofficial transcripts or transcripts hand carried by the applicant (even if in a sealed envelope) are not acceptable. Failure to submit official transcripts by the due date (or to obtain authorized approval of an extension) may result in the offer of admission to VCOM being rescinded and forfeiture of the tuition deposit. 4.2. VCOM Secondary Application Applicants who meet all admissions requirements will be invited to submit the secondary application and supporting documents. The invitation to submit a secondary application is sent via email with instructions for filling it out electronically.
