The form must outline the following: • duties of the position; • the schedule and location of what is being requested to be done remotely; • the methods of communication and expectations of the employee on work product and communication with supervisors; • the method of oversight and communication with anyone reporting to the employee; • the method of providing services to students in the employee’s absence; • any other pertinent information about the employee’s ability to perform the work from home; • who will cover the operational needs of the department; • the impact on students, faculty, staff, and visitors; • the defined work that can be accomplished remotely; • the sensitivity and restrictions of the data involved in the work and a waiver by IT of risks for working with the data off site; • evaluations of the employee’s past work performance; • the exact times off and on campus work; • the employee’s availability remotely; • any legal implications; and • contact person and method to reach the employee for urgent or emergent issues. EXCEPTIONS There may be times when there are increased risks on-campus such as the occurrence of infectious disease or dangerous climate conditions that impact the employee’s ability to work on-campus and/or at home. These will follow a separate policy. Announcement for such emergency conditions will be made by VCOM administration. Requests for work accommodations due to a temporary or permanent disability are different from the above-referenced process and should be applied for through the Human Resource Office on the campus where the individual is domiciled. 6. DURATION OF POLICY The VCOM Policy on Workplace Site Expectations, Requirements, and Working Remotely is established by the Business Office and is effective as of the date above and will remain effective until amended or terminated by the President and Provost. 5.
