DURATION OF POLICY .............................................................................................................. 2 PURPOSE To fully meet our mission, the College participates in on-going self-assessment and review in order to enhance and improve instructional programs and services to students and the communities we serve. The Policy to Review and Revise VCOM’s Mission and Strategic Plan details the institutional review and approval process. STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS VCOM’s Mission, Strategic Plan, and College Outcomes are interconnected, each helping shape the other. Thus, the strategic planning process includes a review of each of these components. The strategic planning review process occurs every five years. a. The review is managed by the office(s) of the President and Provost. b. The review begins by surveying students, faculty, and staff for input regarding VCOM’s Mission. c. The members of the President and Provost’s Council (Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, and Deans) then review the input received through the survey, review the College Outcomes for the past periods, and review of progress toward the previous Strategic Plan. Following this evaluation, the President and Provost’s Council evaluates the need to revise the Strategic Plan including the Mission and provides input to the Office of the President and Provost. d. The President and Provost then revise the Strategic Plan, including any changes to the Mission, and submits the recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval. e. If changes occur to the Mission, such changes are also submitted to the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation for approval. 1. 2.
