P URPOSE The purpose of the Chapters, Affiliates and Branch Campus Governance Policy is to detail the governance and organizational structures and policy and procedural development/implementation for all campuses, and to comply with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 990. G OVERNANCE S TRUCTURE The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) is the sole member of the Harvey W. Peters Research Foundation and is governed by an independent Board of Directors. The main campus site, VCOM – Virginia Campus, is located in Blacksburg, Virginia. VCOM also operates branch campuses in additional states. 2.1. Branch Campus Advisory Boards Each branch campus has an advisory board that provides recommendations for that campus to the VCOM governing board. They also advise the Dean and Officers on that campus. A minimum of two and up to three members of each campus’ advisory board also serve on the governing board with full voting privileges. The advisory boards and the governing board have representations from the osteopathic profession; health care facilities; research, businesses, finance, and law expertise. 2.
