VCOM Campus Faculty Assembly, Campus Faculty Senate, and College Faculty Senate Policy and Procedures 5 of 8 Senators to serve as a College Senator on the College-wide Faculty Senate (fulfilling the remaining four College Senator positions). College Senators will serve two-year terms and may not serve more than three consecutive terms. Representation on the College-wide Faculty Senate is determined as follows: a. Four College Senators from the biomedical sciences discipline/department; one from each campus. b. Four College Senators from the primary care discipline/department (family medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, sports medicine, geriatrics, underserved care, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics); one from each campus. c. Four College Senators from the medical specialties discipline/department (emergency medicine, surgery, psychiatry, neurology, radiology); one from each campus. d. New Branch Campuses will be given consideration for representation on the College-wide Faculty Senate with three at-large, full time faculty members until equal representation amongst the three divisions listed above is possible (usually within the 2nd or 3rd year of operation). When mature, the Campus Faculty Senate will elect three College Senators, one from each division as noted above. The new elections will be held no later than the next election date. 4.2 Duties of the College-wide Faculty Senate The duties of the College-wide Faculty Senate are to represent the faculty on institution-wide matters that affect the College faculty to the Provost and President on: a. The College-wide Faculty Senate does not act on issues concerning an individual's promotion or tenure. b. The College-wide Faculty Senate considers only those matters that affect the college-wide faculty as a whole. c. The College-wide Faculty Senate will review and make recommendations on issues of substance brought to their attention by the faculty or the administration. d. The College-wide Faculty Senate will receive information from the various disciplines/departments regarding any perceived difficulty with college policy or policies. The College-wide Faculty Senate will discuss how the perceived difficulty may affect any and all College disciplines/departments and all faculty. If the difficulty significantly affects one or more disciplines/departments, the College-wide Faculty Senate will notify the both the Provost and the President of their findings. The College-wide Faculty Senate may make recommendations on policy change to the both the Provost and the President; however, the College wide Faculty Senate does not formulate policy. VCOM’s administration formulates policy, and the Board approves all policies.
