 The Associate Dean may request two additional letters from full faculty on campus who share similar expertise.  Faculty members may not use letters from friends, collaborative partners in research, previous trainers with whom a relationship is maintained, or relatives.  For Clinical Track faculty members seeking promotion to the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, a minimum of two letters of recommendation are required as outlined below.  A letter recommending the faculty member for promotion from the DSME describing accomplishment in teaching, research and scholarly activity, service, and leadership.  A letter recommending the faculty member for promotion from the Clinical Discipline Chair describing accomplishment in teaching, research and scholarly activity, service, and leadership.  Faculty members may not use letters from friends, collaborative partners in research, previous trainers with whom a relationship is maintained, or relatives.  For Clinical Track faculty members seeking promotion to the rank of Professor, a minimum of three letters of recommendation are required as outlined below:  A letter recommending the faculty member for promotion from the DSME describing accomplishment in teaching, research and scholarly activity, service, and leadership.  A letter recommending the faculty member for promotion from the Clinical Discipline Chair describing accomplishment in teaching, research and scholarly activity, service, and leadership.  A letter recommending the faculty member for promotion from a faculty member at the rank of professor describing accomplishment in teaching, research and scholarly activity, service, and leadership.  Faculty members may not use letters from friends, collaborative partners in research, previous trainers with whom a relationship is maintained, or relatives.

o Clinical Track Faculty

A full-or part-time Academic Track faculty member seeking promotion in rank or seeking tenure will submit their completed application packet to the appropriate Associate Dean, who will review the application packet, and will consult with the Associate Dean to determine if any additional information is required. • A biomedical academic track faculty member must submit their completed application packet to the Associate Dean for Biomedical Affairs (through the Administrative Assistant).
