faculty with clear guidelines and expectations for the creation, submission, and review of instructional presentations. 2. POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS The majority of instructional content at VCOM is presented through the use of PowerPoint presentations. As such, it is imperative that PowerPoint presentations are designed to effectively deliver instructional content. PowerPoint can be a highly effective tool to aid learning, but if not used carefully, may instead disengage students and actually hinder learning. When designed well, the potential benefits of using PowerPoint presentations include: engaging multiple learning styles, increasing visual impact, improving audience focus, and enriching the curriculum. Presentations should serve as a visual aid, not a visual distraction. 2.1 Format All PowerPoint presentations must be in widescreen format. In addition to the body of the PowerPoint, presentations at VCOM must include the following slides:  Title slide o Faculty must ensure that the title of their presentation matches the title of the lecture, as approved by the Curriculum Oversight Committee and as posted in the block calendar and course syllabus.  Objectives slide o Faculty must ensure that the learning objectives included in PowerPoint presentations have been updated to reflect the most current lecture objectives that correlate with the course objectives as approved by the Curriculum Oversight Committee. Question(s)/Case(s) slide o Faculty must include slides with questions and/or case(s) derived from the content of their presentation. These questions and/or cases can be discussed in class or simply provided for the student’s use when studying independently. This provides students with context for the material they are learning when they are studying outside of the classroom. Reference slide o PowerPoint presentations are subject to the same citation guidelines as other works, as such, they must include a reference slide. Refer to the citation section below for specific information. 2.2 Length PowerPoint presentations are not to exceed 55 slides per 50 minutes of presentation time. This number does not include the title slide, objectives slide, slides with questions or cases without content, or reference slide.  
