Acceptance of an Offer Upon acceptance of an offer, the Associate Dean or Campus Dean will notify the Director for Human Resources of the anticipated start date and other relevant information. New faculty will participate in a new hire orientation process through Human Resources. Human Resources engages the Center for Institutional, Faculty, and Student Success and all Divisions in the orientation process. Once a faculty member is hired, he or she applies to the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee (APT) for recommendations for appointment. Clinical Track Faculty Recruitment and Selection Process Clinical track faculty are those who serve as preceptors in the clinical setting. The Campus Dean and the Division of Clinical Affairs assumes responsibility for the recruitment and selection of clinical track faculty (preceptors) in sufficient numbers for the program-mandated supervised clinical practice experience component of the curriculum. The VCOM Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee (APT) is responsible for the final evaluation of the clinical track candidate’s initial appointment packet. Application for Initial Appointment Physicians interested in a clinical track faculty appointment may apply for initial appointment through VCOM’s Office of Clinical Affairs. Faculty are encouraged to contact their regional site coordinator to submit all documentation on their behalf or they may submit on their own. To be considered for clinical track faculty appointment, applicants must submit the following application materials to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs (through the Administrative Assistant), who will review the application packet, and will consult with the Associate Dean to determine if any additional information is required: • Cover letter formally requesting consideration for initial appointment that specifies the rank sought (Assistant Instructor, Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV); • Proof of degree; o For the purpose of accreditation and state licensure, proof of degree of an academic track faculty member whose degree is less than doctoral, must be accompanied by a letter from the Campus Dean that:  Justifies the faculty member’s professional and scholarly achievements and/or demonstrated competences in the discipline of hire. o For the purpose of accreditation and state licensure, proof of degree of an academic track faculty member whose doctoral degree comes from outside the U.S., must be accompanied by a letter from the Campus Dean that:  Justifies the faculty member’s professional and scholarly achievements and/or demonstrated competences in the discipline of hire, and  States the findings of the transcript evaluation service as to the equivalency and verification process of the degree (a copy of the report from the evaluation service must be included).

• Proof of post-graduate training may be in the form of a: o Residency certificate; o Proof of board certification; or

o Proof of a current unrestricted medical license in the state in which they practice with no sanctions. • Proof of a current, unrestricted state medical license in the state in which they practice with no sanctions for physicians in the patient care environment.
