• (MED 7333) Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology, and Public Health: IPE and Community Based Research Project: 1 credit hour In this course, students will acquire knowledge through the application of the Interprofessional Experience (IPE) and the implementation of the Community-Based Research Project. Students will apply concepts acquired throughout the year to implement and then present their community-based research project. This group activity is the culmination of work which first began in block 2. Students partnered with a community site to develop a health education activity. Students will work in groups to finalize all plans and implement their projects in their assigned community. Student groups are expected to collect data and present their findings in a poster presentation. The purpose of this experience is to provide our students with the tools needed to assess research questions in the collaboration of community experts. Additionally, this course includes a cumulative IPE experience focusing on the competency of Teams and Teamwork. • (MED 7355) Comprehensive Assessment V: Gastrointestinal and Renal Systems: 1 credit hour Osteopathic physicians must demonstrate the understanding and application of established and evolving principles of foundational biomedical and clinical sciences integral to the practice of patient-centered osteopathic medical care. This assessment provides a benchmark for the osteopathic medical student to use as a measure of that integrated learning process using a comprehensive, multiple-choice format completed at the conclusion of Block 5. These questions will help students not only with developing a knowledge base for the gastrointestinal and renal systems, but also with the comprehension skills required to perform well on future board testing.
