Parallel (Dual) Degree Opportunities VCOM partners with certain institutions, including Virginia Tech, to allow students who qualify to earn parallel or dual degrees. In partnership with Virginia Tech this includes a Master’s in Public Health that may be completed between the third and fourth years of the DO program. Most dual degree programs require an additional year to complete. Additional costs occur and are paid to Virginia Tech for tuition. For more information please contact Dr. James Mahaney, Ph.D. at 540-231-1948. Parallel (Dual) Degree Requirements DO /M.P.H. Program 1. Applicants must hold a GPA of 3.6 or greater; 2. Applicants who are approved for the program by both VT and VCOM may start the MPH Program during the summer following OMS I year; and 3. Students must remain in good standing with both institutions to continue in the program.
