Educational Partnerships I n partnership with the Harvey Peters Center Foundation, Bluefield University and Averett University, VCOM has several affiliated master’s programs designed to enhance students’ science proficiency prior to attending VCOM and offer additional opportunities for professions in healthcare. Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences (MABS) T he Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences (MABS) is a nine-month, non-thesis degree offered in Blacksburg, Virginia. Bluefield University, with collaborative teaching by VCOM faculty, offers this program that follows an academic structure similar to medical school. It prepares students academically for the rigors of medical school, nursing or other health professions programs. Students who meet benchmarks are guaranteed an interview at VCOM, the Appalachian School of Pharmacy and other health care professional programs. Master of Health Science in Anesthesia Program (MHSA) L ocated on the VCOM-Auburn campus, the Master of Health Science in Anesthesia (MHSA) Program, a 28-month program of study, is a collaboration between VCOM and Bluefield University. Clinical rotations provide the student with a comprehensive experiential knowledge base in anesthetic techniques and clinical scenarios. This program is formatted for accelerated study and is taken completely online.
