Kraig Smith, MD and a colleague from AU Electrical and Computer Engineering are Co-PIs on this study along with Dr. Harris. Annie Kirby, PhD, RD • VCOM REAP Award: The effect of macronutrient cycling on metabolic flexibility in the presence of excess adiposity. Kaelin Young, PhD, is an investigator on this work. Faculty from AU Kinesiology and Nutrition departments are also investigators. Wei Liu, PhD • VCOM REAP Award: Objective assessment of knee joint stiffness as a functional outcome measure of osteopathic manipulative treatments (OMT) for chronic joint pain. Jos Edison, DO, and Abdullah Siraj, DO, are investigators. Cinzia Mastrorilli, DVM, PhD • VCOM & AUCVM One Health Program Award: Quantification of canine hematopoietic stem cells after peripheral mobilization and concentration for orthopedic point of care applications in human and veterinary medicine. Dr. Mastrorilli is Co-PI on this project along with a colleague at AUCVM.

Dean Sutphin, PhD • VCOM REAP Award: REAP Third- generation DNA sequencing approaches to rapid characterization of drinking water contamination in El Salvador, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Sutphin’s Co- PI is Pawel Michalak, PhD. Lin Kang, PhD, and Skip Garner, PhD, serve as investigators. Robin Varghese, PhD • VCOM REAP Award: Chelation therapy salvages the DNA damaging effects of lead and cadmium on endothelial cells. A clinician from Virginia Circulation Research Center serves as Co-PI on this project. Skip Garner, PhD, is an investigator. • VCOM REAP Award: OR2T7: A prognostic marker and a potential therapeutic target for glioblastoma. Ramu Anandakrishnan, PhD, serves as Co-PI and a faculty member from VTC School of Medicine serves as investigator. Steven Warrington, MD • VCOM REAP Award: Increased detection of pre-malignant and malignant skin lesions in vulnerable populations. Dr. Warrington is Co-PI

on this project with a clinician from Orange Park Medical Center. VCOM Funded Seed Grants Through 6/30/19 Auburn Campus Kenny Brock, DVM, PhD • VCOM & AUCVM One Health Program Award: Phage-peptide constructs as substitute for anti-cancer monoclonal antibody therapy: CD47-based model. Dr. Brock serves as Co-PI in partnership with his collaborator at AUCVM. Three faculty from the AUCVM are investigators on the project. Jonathan Commander, MD • VCOM REAP Award: A novel clinical tool for neuropathic grade assessment. Dr. Commander’s Co-PI is at AU Mechanical Engineering. Kenny Brock, DVM, PhD, and a faculty member from AU Mechanical Engineering are investigators on this study.
