DURATION OF POLICY ................................................................................................................6 1. PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to assure all surveys and other solicitations of any members or prospective members of the VCOM community (e.g. applicants, students, faculty, staff, board members, and alumni) are submitted through the appropriate channels and to prevent the misuse or abuse of said members for a purpose that may or may not promote the well-being or best interests of the members of the VCOM community or the institution as a whole. This policy also addresses the use of College outcomes. This policy establishes a consistent procedure for managing solicitations and surveys on campus, as well as for the use of College outcomes. Such a policy allows VCOM to use best practices in this area, to benefit both the college and the solicitor. Benefits include improved use of existing and new data, reduced survey fatigue, consistent IRB protections, and consistent reporting of outcomes. 2. POLICY STATEMENT VCOM seeks to protect members of the VCOM community from frequent solicitation and surveys, whether the solicitation is for monetary purposes, for sales, or to obtain information or opinions.
