• Require the student to repeat the rotation in the same specialty as the failed clinical rotation with a different preceptor (the repeated rotation requires all components of the rotation to be repeated); or • Require the student to repeat the rotation in the same specialty as the failed clinical rotation with a different preceptor (the repeated rotation requires all components of the rotation to be repeated) and require the student to complete any other additional rotations or additional coursework (with assessment) the Promotion Board believes essential to the student making future academic progress and extend the student’s academic probation for no less than 1 calendar year (this will result in an Altered Degree Plan of Study and will extend the academic year, as the student may not complete the work while on another rotation); or • Allow the student to repeat a portion of an academic year or the entire academic year and place the student on academic probation for no less than 1 calendar year; or • Dismiss the student if the collective performance shows failure to make academic progress. C. The Promotion Board may make additional recommendations to the Campus Dean as deemed appropriate by the Promotion Board. 5.4 Recommendations for OMS 1 – OMS 4 Students for a GPA of 2.79 or Less The Promotion Board will convene when a student’s GPA initially decreases to a 2.79 or less and the Promotion Board will recommend to the Campus Dean that the student be placed on academic probation for no less than 1 calendar year. Academic Probation in this instance places the student on warning that failure of any course may result in dismissal. Academic probation also assures that the student is utilizing academic support services as provided by CIFSS. The Promotion Board may make additional recommendations to the Campus Dean as deemed appropriate by the Promotion Board. A student brought before the Promotion Board for a GPA of 2.79 or less may be considered for other recommendations beyond academic probation (including dismissal) for reasons including, but not limited to: • Previous Promotion Board appearances • GPA of 2.79 or less in combination with a component and/or course failure in a single block. 5.5 Additional Recommendations In addition to the recommendations above, the Promotion Board may recommend the following to the Campus Dean for a student brought before the Promotion Board: • Specification of a timeline or manner in which any remediation or testing must occur; • Referral to the Honor Code Council or Professional and Ethical Standards Board (PESB); • Referral to the Individual Assessment Team and/or requirement for further
