o Proof of a current, unrestricted state medical license in the state in which they practice with no sanctions (if applicable) o Proof of board certification or board eligibility in the specialty being taught at some time in their career (if applicable). Once all documents are received and verification of credentials has been completed, the Associate Dean will inform the candidate that a contract will be developed for the candidate’s consideration. The contract duties are determined by the Campus Dean and submitted to the Provost for final approval and the President for contract development. The candidate will be required to accept the position in writing and return the signed contract within two weeks of receiving the contract so not to lose additional applicants. Once the Associate Dean notifies Human Resources that the contract has been fully executed, Human Resources will notify those applicants not selected for the position thanking them for their interest in VCOM. 3.9 Acceptance of an Offer Upon acceptance of an offer, the Associate Dean or Campus Dean will notify the Director for Human Resources of the anticipated start date and other relevant information. New faculty will participate in a new hire orientation process through Human Resources. Human Resources engages the Center for Institutional, Faculty, and Student Success and all Divisions in the orientation process. Once a faculty member is hired, he or she applies to the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee (APT) for recommendations for appointment. 3.10 Difficult Recruitments For some positions, recruiting can be difficult due to the low number of potential candidates; thus, identifying multiple qualified candidates may not be possible. Modifications to this policy may be necessary from time-to-time and must be approved by the Provost and the President. Clinical track faculty are those who serve as preceptors in the clinical setting. The Campus Dean and the Division of Clinical Affairs assumes responsibility for the recruitment and selection of clinical track faculty (preceptors) in sufficient numbers for the program-mandated supervised clinical practice experience component of the curriculum. The VCOM Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee (APT) is responsible for the final evaluation of the clinical track candidate’s initial appointment packet. 4.1 Application for Initial Appointment Physicians interested in a clinical track faculty appointment may apply for initial appointment through VCOM’s Office of Clinical Affairs. Faculty are encouraged to contact their regional site coordinator to submit all documentation on their behalf or they may submit on their own. To be considered for clinical track faculty appointment, applicants must submit the following 4. CLINICAL TRACK FACULTY RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
