VCOM College Catalog and Student Handbook
plan when evaluating students’ readiness to retake COMLEX Level 1 and approving the students’ testing date. Students enrolled in VCOM’s National Board Preparation course must sit for their next attempt of COMLEX Level 1 within 60 days of being enrolled in the course. Those students who sit for COMLEX Level 1 within 60 days will be permitted to return to clinical rotations while they are awaiting their score. Those students who do not sit for COMLEX Level 1 within 60 days will be temporarily withdrawn until they receive a passing score. These students will not be eligible for re-enrollment or further financial aid until they pass COMLEX Level 1. The period of withdrawal may not exceed 180 days in a 12-month period or an academic year. - Temporary withdrawal may not exceed a 180-day limit, which is
cumulative within the 12-month period or academic year and includes any prior leaves or suspensions in that 12-month period or academic year. Therefore, students should work closely with CIFSS and the Campus Dean to ensure the total number of days of their remediation plan does not exceed the allotted 180 days. - Upon receiving a passing score within the 180-day limit, the student will be re-enrolled in the OMS 3-year curriculum. - Those students who do not pass COMLEX Level 1 within the 180-day limit will be dismissed by the Campus Dean.
Option 2: Follow a VCOM-directed study plan. Those students who do not choose to attend an external immersion program and who choose to follow a VCOM-directed study plan, will be placed on a temporary withdrawal and will not be permitted to complete additional rotations in the OMS 3 year until they receive a passing score on COMLEX Level 1. In order to be released to sit for an additional attempt of COMLEX Level 1, students must score 65% or greater on all-topic, timed question sets of at least 25 questions in TrueLearn for a minimum of 2-weeks. Students must follow and complete the prescribed remediation plan as designed in order to be allowed to sit for an additional attempt of COMLEX Level 1. This includes requiring the student to submit to CIFSS updates regarding study plan progress and question bank performance as outlined in the course syllabus. VCOM will evaluate students’ completion of the prescribed remediation plan when evaluating students’ readiness to retake COMLEX Level 1 and approving the students’ testing date. Students on a temporary withdrawal must sit for COMLEX Level 1 within 60 days o Students whose rotations are delayed due to COMLEX Level 1 issues will be placed on an Altered Degree Plan of Study (ADPOS). For students placed on an Altered Degree Plan of Study for failure of COMLEX Level 1, every attempt will be made to provide rotations in the region to which the student was originally matched; however, due to a limited availability in the number of core rotations in some sites, the student may be required to do one or more of their rotations outside of the original core region to which they matched. and must have a passing score within 90 days of being placed on withdrawal. Upon receiving a passing score within 90 days, the student will be re enrolled in the OMS 3-year curriculum.
