Students who do not successfully complete these courses are awarded an “F” course grade and will be referred to the Promotion Board.

8.2 INC Course Grade A grade of Incomplete “INC” may be assigned when a student has completed the majority of the work required for a course but is unable to complete the remaining work prior to the next semester for a good cause as determined by the Associate Dean for Pre-Clinical Education, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, and Associate Dean for OMS 4 and GME. Students will be given an opportunity, as prescribed by the Office of the Associate Dean, to complete the outstanding course requirements. Once those requirements are successfully completed, the “INC” grade will be changed to the grade earned, will be recorded on the transcript, and be GPA accountable. Students who do not successfully complete these courses are awarded an “F” course grade and will be referred to the Promotion Board. 9. AUDITED COURSE(S) The Campus Dean or Provost may require the repeat of an entire academic year and may require the student to audit a course(s) the student has already passed. In this case, the student may be required to attend the course(s) and pass all exams for the audited course; however, the initial course grade will remain on the transcript and be GPA accountable. Once audited, the student’s academic record will show the audited course with a grade of “Au” but will not be GPA accountable. Tuition is not charged for audited courses. Exact stipulations as to repeated course requirements will be outlined, in writing, for the student prior to repeating the academic year. 10. ACADEMIC PROBATION The status of Academic Probation indicates that the student has not met the minimum threshold to be in good academic standing and is failing to make academic progress. Thus, the status of Academic Probation is assigned to a student to signify that the student needs to improve academically and must work to meet or exceed the minimum academic standards. The status of academic probation alerts the student, faculty, and administration to the fact that the student has experienced academic difficulty and that the student requires additional academic assistance such as counseling, tutoring, or other activities to help the student resolve academic deficiencies. Any student who is demonstrating failure to make academic progress will be placed on academic probation by the Campus Dean or the Provost and will be so informed in writing by the Campus Dean or the Provost. Via recommendation from the Promotion Board to the Campus Dean, the Campus Dean or Provost will set the length of academic probation, which is generally for a term of not less than 1 calendar year, or until released by the Campus Dean or Provost. Academic Probation is not reported on the transcript; however, academic probation is required to be reported as a component of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE).
