Alabama Community College System VCOM is licensed by the Alabama Community College System to offer an educational program, through its branch campus in Auburn, Alabama, that leads to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.

Alabama Commission on Higher Education VCOM is exempt from Alabama programmatic approval/review by the ACHE as it meets the exemption criteria that it is physically located within the USA and is accredited by a US regional or specialized accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education or Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

Board of Regents of the State of Louisiana VCOM is currently licensed by the Board of Regents of the State of Louisiana. Licenses are renewed by the State Board of Regents every two years. Licensed institutions have met minimal operational standards set forth by the state, but licensure does not constitute accreditation, guarantee the transferability of credit, nor signify that programs are certifiable by any professional agency or organization.

National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) VCOM is approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education, which includes clinical rotations. In accordance to the laws of each state, VCOM is authorized to offer online distance education programs to students who live in all SARA states, which includes all states except California. VCOM is approved to offer online distance education programs to students who live in California because VCOM is a private, nonprofit institution of higher
