VCOM Administrative and Classified Staff Handbook

Types of Coverage Two types of coverage are available to VCOM employees:

Comprehensive Plan Employee-Only Employee-Family (spouse plus unmarried dependent children aged 26 or under) Cost

Costs of the dental plan are included with the medical plan but may also be selected on an a la carte basis. Due to the rate structure of the medical plan, employees may choose to take dental coverage only or bundle it with the health insurance during open enrollment. Employees share of the cost will be deducted from their paycheck on a semi-monthly basis. Coverage Changes Except for certain “qualifying events,” like a change in marital status, birth of a child, change in spouse’s employment, current employees may make changes in their coverage only during the open enrollment period for dental benefits. VCOM shall only make changes in coverage during this same time frame and changes in coverage will be announced. Notice: Subject to Change The dental plan provider plans and costs are periodically reviewed by VCOM and are subject to change depending upon change in policy costs, offers or providers. VCOM reserves the right to make changes based upon approval from VCOM’s administration, with final approval from the Board. Employees have access to mental health and wellness services through VCOM. They can access these services through the following providers: • t he physician network within their Anthem health coverage ; • t he Anthem – EAP (Employee Assistance Program) ; and/or • VCOM’s Teladoc benefit for all full-time employees with or without health insurance coverage (VCOM full-time employees receive a discounted rate for therapy and psychiatry visits). Each campus offers the use of a meditation room for students and employees and promotes a healthy mind, body and spirit through the Via Wellness program. Via Wellness provides enrichment to campus life through a wide variety of sports, fitness and exercise, and social, cultural and spiritual events. Students, faculty, staff and their family members are welcome to participate in all Via Wellness activities. Retirement VCOM’s retirement plan is a defined contribution plan provided through the Council for Independent Colleges in Virginia Multi-Employer Plan (MEP). VCOM contributes a fixed percentage of an employee’s salary on a semi monthly basis to an account that is maintained in their name. Once the semi-monthly contribution is paid, the management of the retirement account is the responsibility of the employee. There is no guaranteed benefit at Mental Health and Wellness
