12.1.1 COMSAE Phase 1: First and Second Attempt

A. Students who score 460 or greater on COMSAE Phase 1 on the first or second attempt and who are scoring 65% or greater on all-topic, timed question sets of at least 25 questions in TrueLearn for a minimum of 2 weeks immediately prior to their scheduled COMLEX Level 1 exam will receive a “P” (Pass) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course (provided they have met all other course requirements) and will be allowed to sit for COMLEX Level 1 within the VCOM approved testing window . Once students pass COMSAE Phase 1 and meet the scoring requirements in TrueLearn, they are to continue to study until they take COMLEX Level 1 during the approved testing window. B. Students who score 440 – 459 on COMSAE Phase 1 on the first or second attempt will receive/maintain an “IP” (In Progress) grade for the Comprehensive Review Course. This score range is considered a conditional pass, which indicates that the student needs to complete additional structured and monitored remediation before being released to sit for COMLEX Level 1. Of note, there is no conditional pass range for the third attempt of COMSAE Phase 1. To resolve the “IP” grade and be released to sit for COMLEX Level 1, the student is required to do the following: • Meet with the Center for Institutional, Faculty, and Student Success (CIFSS) to design a prescribed remediation plan, which may include attendance at a VCOM approved in-person external immersion program. The plan includes a tentative date the student is to sit for COMLEX Level 1. o The length and details of the study plan will be based on each student’s individual progress. Students in this score range may choose to continue to follow a VCOM-directed study plan or may choose to attend an in person external immersion program.
