A Letter from the President of VCOM Alumni Association Board The Alumni Board continues to fulfill the mission of the Alumni

the weekend of September 21-23. Fourteen CME 1-A hours will be offered. On Saturday evening alumni and families will be transported to VCOM for a special reception and dinner will celebrate VCOM’s many achievements. ■ ■ The Board has also been busy implementing initiatives to benefit students. These initiatives include building the alumni student scholarship fund, precepting students on Appalachian and international outreaches, reviewing students’ residency intent letters, being guest speakers for student organizations and mentoring student, to name a few. ■ ■ VCOM alumni have been involved with many events this past year to strengthen their bonds with others in the profession and to continue to learn and enhance their skills. Events were hosted for alumni and students at OMED, VOMA, SCOMS, ACOFP, AAO, as well as regional events. This year, I ask that you consider how you can become more involved in your Alumni Association. I encourage you to keep in contact with the Alumni Relations Office and let them know if you are interested in any of the opportunities I mentioned above. If you have

questions or ideas on how we can improve your experience as a VCOM alumni, please let us know. VCOM alumni are all part of the same family and the Alumni Association Board wants to make sure we are providing you with the best experiences possible. I look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Association by engaging alumni and students in the life of the College. Through communicating, connecting alumni to the College and one another, we are enriching the lives of alumni as well as providing invaluable services to the current students who will soon join us as alumni. A special thank you for the work of the dedicated board members whose terms ended this past year. And continued commitment and enthusiasm of board members the many accomplishments and initiatives would not have been possible. ■ ■ VCOM Homecoming – This past September saw a successful Homecoming which brought several alumni and their families back to Blacksburg to participate in continuing education while having fun catching up at the a cook- out on Friday evening and trip to Firefly Winery for dinner and entertainment on Saturday evening. Plans are in process for Homecoming 2018 to be held at Hotel Roanoke and back to the VCOM campus thanks to those of whom are serving another term on the board. Without the
