El Salvador January 2018

V COM’s service to the people of El Salvador started through using mobile units to visit children in remote villages. Partnerships with the El Salvador Ministry of Health, the Evangelical University Medical School and AMILAT Foundation, Shalom Medical Center have been established to continually serve the community’s needs. The Center is able to provide primary care health services, prenatal care, and has a state-of-the-art pediatric suite, laboratory, and pharmacy. VCOM’s partnership with the Decameron Resort, allows

VCOM’s faculty and students teach a first responders training workshop for the resort employees every year as well. Outreach Trips 2017-2018 In January 2018, 34 second- year medical students from the VCOM-Virginia campus, along with preceptors and volunteers, served in El Salvador for a one- week medical mission trip. The team saw over 485 members of the community and provided medical care and prescriptions.
