T he Student Government Association (SGA) is the governing body for medical students. This student-run organization works hard to make sure VCOM students have the best medical school experience possible. The group works closely with faculty and staff to plan social events and handle any issues that may arise. SGA promotes a collaborative SGA Student Government Association atmosphere that unifies VCOM for an enjoyable experience for everyone. • SGA held VCOM–Virginia’s first town hall for the first-and second-year classes. This was a time where students from both classes could address class leadership and SGA about issues and concern. • In August, SGA organized welcome week for the first week of school. It was a way for all the students to meet one another and enjoy time together outside of the

classroom. Each organization had an event and students interested in those organizations were invited to attend and learn more. • Students met on VCOM’s back patio with their dogs to meet fellow students and canine lovers to promote community and a stress-free environment during the first week of classes. Organized by SGA, this event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
