Saluting Tomorrow’s Heroes

T he Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) honored the heroes of tomorrow during its Military Promotion Ceremony on May 5, 2017. A total of 10 graduates from the VCOM Class of 2017 in the Health Professions Scholarship Program, representing various branches of the military, took the oath of office and received their promotion pins. Their commitments to serve as physicians in the United States Armed Forces were honored in the intimate ceremony held at Virginia Tech’s War Memorial Chapel. Lt. General John Robb, DO, former director of the Defense Health Agency, who led a joint, integrated Combat Support Agency to provide a ready medical force for combat commands, spoke to the soon-to- be-graduates about their impending responsibilities as not only doctors, but soldiers for the United States of America.
