A Letter from the Vice President of Alumni and Development

Dear Alumni,

When you are ready to serve in one of these roles, we will be excited to have you. Our mentors and preceptors are truly necessary in driving VCOM toward its mission.

VCOM is excited to welcome the Class of 2017 as the newest members of the VCOM Alumni Association. It has been our pleasure to watch you all grow on your journey to become physicians. We have seen you all help those who need it in so many ways and watched you flourish in the beginning of your new careers. We welcome you into this new stage of your life, and we are so happy to have you! As members of the VCOM Alumni Association, you have benefits that we hope you will enjoy such as: ■ ■ hotel discounts from Hotel Storm ■ ■ discounts on school-based CME events ■ ■ receiving copies of VCOM publications such as our annual report Our goals for the Alumni Association are centered on you and your experiences and how we can make those better. We strive for goals including: ■ ■ developing lifelong learning opportunities and career connections for you as an alumni ■ ■ providing opportunities for current students to get to know alumni ■ ■ maintaining ways for alumni to participate in continuous improvements in their practices and lives

opportunities for VCOM students and perspective students Look for our VCOM exhibits at the AAO Convocation and many state and regional conferences, too. We love hearing from alumni in all stages of life at these osteopathic conferences. Hosting social events at conferences for the VCOM family to catch-up, are some of our favorite times to gather together. We also like to take this time to listen to how we can better serve you. As students, you made us proud and now that you all are physicians, we cannot wait to see what kind of impact you will have on the world. We cannot do our job well without your help. When you move or change job positions, let us know by completing the form on the VCOM alumni Web page and submitting updated contact information. It has been fantastic to see our alumni step up as mentors to current and future students. Our student doctors and soon-to- be student doctors appreciate guidance from seasoned alumni, as I’m sure you already know. We also have more and more of our incredible alumni serving as student preceptors every year and many even join us on our international medical missions.
