Honduras April 2017

Outreach Trips 2016-2017 Another group of second-year medical students, faculty and staff from VCOM also traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras in April, 2017 for a medical outreach trip. The team was able to see more than 570 patients in the week they were there. They also visited the orphanage and the secluded mountainous regions to set-up and provide care at temporary clinics.

During the trip, as part of an on-going project, patients were asked about their Zika knowledge and given information about the virus as part of VCOM alumnus JJ White, DO, PhD from VCOM- Auburn’s research. Patients and community members were given invaluable information about prevention and recognition of the virus.
