7. RESIDENCY MATCH DAYS

8. VIA RESEARCH RECOGNITION DAY 2017

7 In the spring, VCOM’s fourth-year students found out where they would be doing their residencies. VCOM is proud to say that every single student was placed, with many going into primary care residencies. 8 The annual Via Research Recognition Day was held February 24, 2017 with over 220 in attendance. Students, faculty and researchers throughout the region were able to see poster presentations about diverse topics in biomedical, educational and clinical research. Attendees had the opportunity to listen to distinguished speakers present their cutting-edge research. Top prizes were awarded to 12 research posters. 9 William G. Anderson, DO, was a keynote speaker during the inaugural Black History Month activities held by the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). The series was named “The William G. Anderson, DO, Black History Month Series,” a surprise Dr. Anderson wasn’t told about until his arrival. He spoke on February 28, 2017 to the student body about his work alongside his friend Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to end racial segregation and the importance of education. Dr. Anderson was a founding member of the Board of Directors at VCOM and a champion for minority rights.
