T he Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (SAMOPS) is an organization designed to help ease the transition into a military career. It recognizes the unique position that osteopathic physicians hold within the United States Armed Forces to defend the nation. The

Virginia chapter has many Health Profession Scholars (HPSP) who make personal commitments to serve the nation as military physicians. After graduation, these doctors will serve a minimum of four years of active duty and reserve in the specialties and branches they go into. Veterans and military spouses are also

welcome to join SAMOPS. The group’s end goal is to promote an awareness of the deep impact that osteopathic physicians have in the U.S. military.
