4. VCOM OLYMPICS 2016

4 First-and second-year students competed in the annual VCOM Olympics – Frank Rocovich Championship, some of the favorite games included a doughnut eating contest, tug-of-war, flag football and more. With a final score of 33 to 17, the Class of 2019 walked away victorious, but both classes had a great time. The games promoted teamwork to help enhance the family atmosphere of VCOM and further acclimate first year students to VCOM. 5 In October, members of the Class of 2020 were cloaked with their white coats at their White Coat Ceremony in Burruss Hall. Here, they proudly received their white coats – a symbol of achievement in medical school. Family, friends and VCOM faculty were there to support the students in this exciting time. 6 Hospital Day was held October 26, 2016 and allowed students to connect with representatives from residency programs and to learn more about different specialties. About 30 VCOM alumni were at this event and held a symposium with the students to discuss their areas of specialty.
