T he Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) at VCOM provides students opportunities to connect their faith and career through local Christian physicians, service work and health-related Christian resources. CMDA holds bible studies and invites Christian physicians to share their experiences. The group strives to serve Christ and support one another throughout their time in medical school. ■ ■ CMDA held a welcome picnic for first-year students to introduce them to faculty, local church leaders and the CMDA student leaders. They had a potluck meal provided by the second year students

they networked with Christian healthcare providers and residency programs involved in mission work. ■ ■ Long-time surgeon and missionary Darin Bowers, MD, gave a presentation to CMDA students on missionary medicine at the Hardees’ home. ■ ■ CMDA students celebrated the first year students with a formal ceremony where they received the CMDA white coat pins and pledged the CMDA Physician’s Oath.

and played games at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. ■ ■ CMDA enjoyed a pool party and home-cooked meal at the Hardees’ home. They followed the meal with the first bible study of the new school year. ■ ■ CMDA went as a group to the Regal New River Theater to see the movie "Insanity of God." ■ ■ A lunch was held for students to discuss medical ethics from a Christian worldview, led by vice president Jonathan Mochel. ■ ■ A group of CMDA students attended the Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, where
