CLASS OF 2016 - PRECEPTOR OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Dr. Brittney Terry was awarded the Preceptor of the Year for Pediatrics.

Dr. Daniel Addis was awarded Preceptor of the Year for Family Medicine.

Dr. Zairha Snider, was awarded Preceptor of the Year for the Carilion NRV region.

Dr. Brian Easton of Lebanon, Virginia, was awarded Preceptor of the Year for Family Medicine.

Dr. Vincent Torres was awarded Preceptor of the Year two years in a row.

Dr. Adel Salama was awarded Preceptor of the Year for Geriatrics (2014– 2015).

College Honored with Award for Diversity Efforts On September 26, 2015, Minority Access, Inc., recognized VCOM as the Institutional National Role Model, an honor awarded to educational institutions premier in diversifying campuses and improving recruitment, retention and enhancement of minorities. The organization also honored Bill King with the 2015 National Role Model Award for Enhancing Diversity to Overcome Disparities in Health and Education. This is the fourth year in a row that VCOM has received national recognition as an institutional role model for minority access and the third year that a primary administrator has been recognized for national mentorship. ◄ Golden Apple Awards Since its inception in 2009, the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society has been presenting the Golden Apple Teaching Award to two outstanding faculty members at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). This year’s recipients, Blaise Costa, M. Pharm, PhD , Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, and Sofia Abraham-Hardee, DO, PhD, Discipline Chair of Pediatrics, and Michael Cantor, DO, Internal Medicine Preceptor. This honor speaks to their exceptional quality of teaching and mentorship. ◄
