Tolentino Receives Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World Award V COM congratulates Jaclyn Tolentino, DO, for being the first Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine to receive one of the prestigious Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World awards. A gala was held at the 17th Filipina Leadership Global Summit in San Francisco on September 29, 2021. The Foundation for Filipina Women’s Network recognizes women of Philippine ancestry who are changing the face of leadership in the global workplace. “Creating a world where all women have access to the knowledge they need to cultivate healthy bodies is my dream, but I’ve been so inspired by the visionary perspectives of the women I get to share this award with,” said Tolentino. Dr. Tolentino graduated in 2010 from VCOM-Virginia.

VCOM-Virginia Alumni Named 2021 Excellence in Public Health Award Recipient

R anddie-Joyce Rameau, DO, VCOM-VIrginia Class of 2021, was awarded the 2021 Excellence in Public Health Award. The awards program recognizes medical students across the U.S. who advance public health and exemplify the United States Public Health Services (USPHS) mission to protect, promote and advance the health and safety of the nation.

In the spirit of this award, I will continue to uplift those around me, with the encouragement of the astounding osteopathic medical community.” Dr. Rameau will continue with a residency placement at the University of Central Florida - College of Medicine in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Rameau responded by saying, “Serving my community while making an impact is the motivation behind my commitment and dedication to the medical field. Receiving this award is an affirmation that I am on the right path and making a positive impact on those I serve. It is an honor to have been nominated by Dean Willcox and chosen to receive such a prestigious award from the USPHS.
