Opening of the Auburn Pediatric and Adult Medicine Clinic

I n January 2021, Alexis Stoner, PhD, MPH, the VCOM- Carolinas associate professor and discipline chair for preventive medicine and public health, joined the Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI), an award-winning program of Furman University’s Riley Institute now in its 18th year. Furman University’s Richard W. Riley Institute broadens student and community perspectives about issues critical to South Carolina’s progress. It builds and engages present and future leaders, creates and shares data- supported information about the state’s core challenges and links the leadership body to sustainable solutions. O n May 20, 2021, part in an Auburn Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for the Auburn Pediatric and Adult Medicine Clinic on the Auburn University campus. Located on the second floor of the Auburn University MRI Building at 560 Devall Drive, the clinic provides family medical care from Monday through Thursday each week. VCOM-Auburn physicians have joined APAM physicians and staff to provide care, and VCOM- representatives from VCOM-Auburn took

John Lucas, DO, and incoming Dean Heath Parker, DO, also attended the ribbon cutting. VCOM is pleased to partner with Auburn Pediatric and Adult Medicine to provide family healthcare for the Auburn-Opelika community and surrounding areas.

Alongside her classmates, Dr. Stoner developed an awareness campaign strategy for the Medical Legal Partnership through which a health care provider identifies a potential health harming legal need, and directly refers the patient to a lawyer located at the Center for Developmental Services.
