VCOM Award Winners Celebrated at AOF Gala

Congratulations to VCOM’s outstanding osteopathic students, alumni and faculty for being honored by the American Osteopathic Foundation T he American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) Honors Gala was held in a virtual setting on October 22, 2021. AOF provided an inspiring evening of fun, camaraderie and inspiration! VCOM hosted an awards dinner at each of the four VCOM campuses, which were connected virtually with the other campuses. Congratulations to Carolyn Sayers , Class of 2022, for being named the American Osteopathic Foundation’s 2021 Golden Ticket Scholarship winner! The

Golden Ticket Scholarship recognizes exceptional osteopathic medical students who, despite financial obstacles, have achieved academic excellence, displayed leadership, made a commitment to community outreach and embody the osteopathic tenets and philosophy. Sayers will receive a $20,000 scholarship for being named the 2021 winner, in addition to the $5,000 she received as a finalist. Celebrating the announcement with her husband Cory, Carolyn said, “Having the AOF provide a scholarship for the both of us makes us feel surrounded by a sense of community and love and support. It’s encouraging; it’s inspiring; it’s awesome!” VCOM has had finalists in prior years, but this is the first winner of the scholarship for the college.
