were unsure about the specific ingredients found in e-cigarettes or misunderstood the long-term health consequences associated with vaping. These findings align with national research showing that while public messaging has raised awareness about addiction, it has not fully addressed misinformation around product contents or health outcomes. “There’s a growing perception among teens that vaping is less harmful than smoking,” said Rodriguez. “But the science tells a different story, and it’s vital that we close those knowledge gaps with accurate, accessible education.” After presenting their early findings at VCOM Auburn’s research day, the team began making plans to expand the project to additional high schools in Lee County and potentially across the state of Alabama, with a goal of developing a more comprehensive understanding of teen tobacco awareness and use the findings to support more effective, data-driven health education programs. “We’re proud of what we’ve learned so far, but we know there’s more work to be done,” said Rachael Hildebrand. “Ultimately, our goal is to help teens make
