Context: Simulation is playing a crucial role in medical education and continuing education for medical professionals. However, the use of simulated patient death remains a highly debated topic. Objective: To examine the potential bene?ts of incorporating simulated death into the curriculum or continuing education of future and current medical professionals. Methods: From November 2022 to February 2023, the authors conducted a systematic review of the scholarly literature relevant to the use of simulated death in medical education. The authors used multiple keyword combinations in their literature search. Results: The literature review is currently underway. Conclusion: The integration of simulated death into the education and training of medical professionals remains a controversial topic in medical education. Some advocates argue that dealing with dying patients and death is an essential aspect of medical education and that the use of appropriate simulated death can be an effective teaching tool. However, others contend that incorporating simulated death

into the curriculum may conflict with ethical principles and may be perceived as a form of punishment for medical professionals.
