assure quality programs are delivered and the needs for each campus are met. Each branch campus has a faculty body and staff to assure a quality curriculum is delivered. Each campus has a committee structure to support the campus specific needs and provide representation on College-wide Committees. The following is an overview of the academic administration of the College and the role of administration as they relate to the faculty. President The President serves as the Chief Executive and Chief Academic Officer and oversees all campuses and their outcomes. The President oversees the Vice Presidents and Assistant Vice Presidents in the areas of finance, human resources, insurances and benefits, facilities, technology, and research, and communications. In this role, the President also represents the College to the community, state and national educational arenas. The President oversees all development and fundraising activities of the College. The President has signature authority for all contracts, agreements, and checks as authorized by the Board. Provost The Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer and oversees all campuses and their outcomes. The Provost is responsible to the Board of Directors for College’s academic outcomes and to assure the College programs are consistent across campuses with the highest national standards. The Provost also assures all state and national accreditation standards are met across campuses. The Provost assures the Campus Deans are provided with the needed resources for success. The Provost assures consistency of the academic program and outcomes across campuses. Campus Deans Each Campus has a Dean to serve as the Chief Academic Officer in administering the academic programs of the Campus. The Campus Deans are responsible to the President and Provost in assuring the anticipated academic outcomes for their campus are met and to administer the academic budget. In this role, the Campus Deans oversee the Associate Deans as Division Chairs in their oversight of the Discipline Chairs and faculty within their Division in the delivery of the curriculum, assuring the academic program is of the highest standards and assuring consistency of the curriculum across campuses. The Campus Dean is expected to interact with the community, state, and national bodies that are appropriate for the position of Campus Dean, to serve as a leader in their community and the state representing the College, and to develop for approval and oversee the administration of the budget for their campus. Each Campus Dean is also expected to serve as a role model for the VCOM mission through the following: participating in the international and Appalachian/Delta service programs of the College annually, serving as an advocate for rural health in their state, and serving as an advocate for care of medically underserved populations within the state. The Campus Dean is expected to meet frequently with the campus faculty to assure institutional successes, address institutional challenges, and to introduce new programs. The Campus Dean must develop and maintain a relationship with the administration of each core clinical hospital site CEO for their campus, to facilitate affiliation agreements, and to nurture and maintain a positive relationship with the CEO and educational administration of the VCOM core hospitals. The Campus Deans are responsible to oversee the academic programs through oversight of the Associate Deans for Curriculum, Assessment and Medical Education; Associate Deans for OMS 3; and Associate Deans for OMS 4 and GME on their campus, assuring the delivery of quality instruction on campus in the pre-clinical years and off-
