T he American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP) student organization works to ensure its members have access to a multitude of educational events and guest speakers to gain exposure to the field of emergency medicine. As always, ACOEP had a full plate this year, with a wide range of activities such as “Safety Town,” an activity sponsored by the group for SafeKids of Spartanburg which taught street crossing safety and the importance of wearing helmets while bicycling to children. A series of three suture clinics served as an introduction to the techniques for some students. Led by Zachary

volunteers from SonoSite in Charlotte, ACOEP hopes to make this workshop an annual event. ACOEP fourth-year students presented many of the ins and outs of what to expect when they are interviewing and applying for residency programs at the Fourth Year Student Panel. The fourth year students who participated in the panel were Micah Thomas, Shelby Guile, Jamie Purseglove, and Mohamad Hassan, with Dr. Campbell overseeing the event.

Buchanan and Ryan Griswold (both Class of 2019), Lynn Campbell, DO, and Lisa Carroll, MD, the clinics were quite popular. ACOEP President Aaron Markwith, Class of 2020, performed five lectures outlining EKG interpretation from beginning to end including arrhythmias, 12-lead interpretation, and understanding the electrical axis of the heart. Kenneth Garland, Class of 2020, demonstrated short arm casting techniques in a casting clinic. A FAST exam workshop introduced second year OMS students to the world of performing and interpreting ultrasounds. Presented by Darlene Myles, DO, and Dr. Campbell, and
