However, OB-GYN also had several other events that were collaborative with other student organizations, such as hosting Molly Chappell-McPhail from Birth Matters to talk on “When Survivors Give Birth” and hosting a booth at the Pediatric Wellness Fair promoting safety with the Spartanburg Sheriff’s Department. In addition to clinical experiences, guest speakers, and group activity, OB-GYN also encourages national co-op and collaboration. Every year members of OB-GYN fly to the ACOOG conference, where they are able to interact with other health care professionals who either already work in the field, or those who endeavor to practice in the field one day. The student organization buffers the cost of the trip to incentivize its members to participate and represent VCOM -Carolinas campus.

has served as a hub for students who show interest in the Obstetric and Gynecologic fields of medicine. The main goal of this organization is to provide its members with opportunities to learn more about what the life of an OB-GYN is like and how to build a portfolio strong enough to compete for an OB-GYN residency. The OB-GYN student organization has held events such as an ultrasound clinic, a fundraiser for Miracle Hill Ministries during National Women’s Health Week, and guest speakers such as Dr. Bicksler, Jason Hill and Abby Dishler. The group also sponsored a Greenville Drive Baseball game for Welcome Week 2017, held a diapers and wipes drive for the Carolina Pregnancy Clinic, conducted a class on Gestational Diabetes at the Carolina Pregnancy Clinic, and performed a suture clinic with Dr. Natasha Jeter.
