Highlights (continued) 9 The month of February is American Heart Month, and VCOM-Carolinas partnered with Spartanburg Regional Health System to offer “Revitalize Your Health,” a special event for students, faculty, and the medical community on the power of food and treatment of chronic disease. The guest speaker for this event was James Loomis, MD, MBA, medical director of the Barnard Medical Center in Washington, DC and national expert in plant-based nutrition. 10 In February and March, VCOM-Carolinas welcomed fourth year students back to campus in celebration of Match Day events during the weeks when students receive the good news about which residency programs they have matched into and will be moving on to after graduation. This was a great chance for the soon-to-be graduates to reconnect and celebrate the next step in their medical education!
